FAQs relating to Portugal Tours

Are prices for the Portugal Tours fixed?

Yes and no. fixed price for smaller groups. However, for larger groups of more than 6 people, please ask for a discount!

 

Are the Portugal Tour Itineraries fixed?

Again, yes and no. We can alter any tour , just talk to us and we will work with you so that you get the tour you really want.

Also, when circumstances change that are out of our control, we work hard to provide the bets alternative.

 

What is the Accommodation standard on the Portugal Tours?

We use “good value” hotels either 3 or 4 star.

 

What meals are included in the Portugal Tours?

All breakfasts are included and some lunches and dinners, as mentioned in the itinerary.

 

Can I come earlier or stay longer in Northern Portugal?

Of course, just talk to us and we can arrange it for you so that you transfer seamlessly between itineraries.

 

How much do meals cost in Northern Portugal?

Here the meals are not expensive. The cost is 10€ – 35€  (or $35 to $50)

 

Do I need to take out Travel Insurance?

We recommend that you take out appropriate holiday insurance covering you against illness, injury, and loss or damage to luggage. This insurance should also cover the possibility of having to cancel your holiday for any reason.

 

What is the Eating and Drinking like on the Portugal Tours?

One of the joys of Northern Portugal is the warmth of the welcome you’ll receive from your hosts. The food is hearty and wholesome, and we can guarantee that you’ll find it hard to lose weight on this walk.

 

Why use trains in the Portugal Tours?
We use the speed train (Lisbon – Braga) in the tour The Best of Portugal and in the  Portuguese Wine Tours (Day 3) we embark at the quay in Porto, enjoy lunch on board and we return by train or bus to Porto. Why? Because we have a beautiful landscape in Douro Valley and, this is the best way to see.

 

How are the tours priced?

All prices are shown in Australian Dollars. Should the exchange rate change more than 3% from $0.7 per Euro, we reserve the right to adjust the price.

 

What are the Payment Terms? 
Upon Program Confirmation,
1. A deposit of 35% is required to secure the booking.
2. Until a deposit has been received, no services can be guaranteed.
Group bookings (block bookings, groups, etc.): Deposit requirements may vary. Initial deposits will apply as necessary to cover the cost of any hotel reservations or special services that require early payment in order to secure the reservation/booking (seasonal variances in suppliers’ terms and conditions policies will also be taken into account). Confirmation of final numbers is required no later than 60 days prior to arrival of the group.

60 Days Prior to Arrival Date  – Full payment for the tour is required

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

All Cancellation must be made in writing. The following charges and refunds will apply when cancellation is made after the booking is confirmed.
If a trip is canceled more than 90 days prior to start date:
• Any cancellation fees, surcharges, or non-refundable deposits charged to by individual hotels or other third parties will be charged.
• The remainder of any deposits paid will be refunded.
If a trip is canceled between 90 and 45 days prior to start date:
• Any cancellation fees, surcharges, or non-refundable deposits charged by individual hotels or other third parties will be charged.
• Additionally, a cancellation fee of 20% of the total trip cost will apply.
• The remainder of any deposits will be refunded.
If a trip is canceled between 45 and 30 days prior to start date:
• Any cancellation fees, surcharges, or non-refundable deposits charged by individual hotels or other third parties will be charged.
• Additionally, a cancellation fee of 35% of the total trip cost will apply.
• The remainder of any deposits paid will be refunded.

If a trip is canceled within 30 days prior to arrival date
• 100% cancellation fees will apply.
• No refunds will be made.

We strongly recommend that each client purchases comprehensive trip cancellation insurance.

 

What are the disclaimers?

Yes, the normal ones!

(a) Responsibility –  Davids Tours and their partner,  their owners, associates, agents and employees, hereby referred to as we assume no responsibility for injury or death, loss, damage to personal property, delay, or for additional expenses due to acts of god (sickness, injury, poor health, weather, etc.) strike, detention, riot, war, quarantine, theft, civil disturbances, government regulations or restrictions, third-party or subcontractor negligence, or any other. We are not responsible for any accidents, delays, inconveniences, expenses, mishaps of any kind what so ever, or death resulting entirely or in part from the negligence of others or from causes beyond our control.

(b) Itineraries: We reserve the right to make changes to and / or substitutions in the itinerary where deemed necessary, for any reason.

(c) Minors: We ask that all minors be under the care of a responsible adult at all times.

(d) Conduct: We reserve the right to decline, accept or to retain any person as a tour member for any reason that affects the operation of the tour or rights or welfare of the other tour members. A refund of the recoverable land tour services is the limit of  liability in this event.

(e) Health: Persons with medical conditions, dietary conditions or other health problems should make them known to us well during time of confirmation. We reserve the right to disqualify anyone at any time for any reason during the tour if it is felt that the individual is physically incapable of performing an activity and/or if that individual’s continued participation would jeopardized the safety of the group or handicap the normal functioning or scheduling of the tour.
